Heaven Counts

Either the Book of Mormon is truly an ancient religious text, similar to the Bible, and in that case, the 16 million members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are right to strive to follow its precepts, or the Book of Mormon is a forgery, and the 150 million copies printed to date are evidence of one of the biggest scams of the last two centuries. It is therefore interesting to ask the question:

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

A Heritage of Faith

Bruno Kahne’s father was born into a Jewish family whose members were murdered in Auschwitz. As a young man, he discovered the restored gospel. While serving as a missionary in Paris, he had a spiritual revelation that one day he would be asked to translate the Book of Mormon into French.

"After all, who could better translate a book written by a Jew than a Jew?"

Years later, Salt Lake City called upon him. The Kahne family would gather every Sunday to hear about the challenges of translating holy Semitic text to a Western language. These intimate gatherings shaped Bruno’s soul. Standing at the crossroads of two identities — Jewish by heritage and Latter-day Saint by covenant — Bruno draws on both traditions in his writing.

A Culture of Symbols

Heaven Counts explores how symbols—more universal than words—have shaped meaning since the beginning of time. In Hebrew culture, almost everything carries symbolic weight: names, clothing, colors, shapes, parts of the body… and of course numbers. Symbols intensify words, revealing additional layers of meaning.
